GentleMax Pro Plus® laser hair removal at Pure Laser and Aesthetics delivers permanent hair reduction using two wavelengths, Alexandrite (755 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm), so we can match the laser to your skin and hair. A cooling spray fires with every pulse to protect your skin, and large spot sizes make big areas like the back and chest faster to treat.
★★★★★ 5.0 on Google.
The GentleMax Pro Plus® is a professional hair removal laser from Candela and the premier system in the Gentle Pro™ Series. It offers the widest range of spot sizes and the shortest pulse durations in the series. Shorter pulses help treat finer hair, and larger spots cover more skin with each pulse.

The laser’s light is absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. That light becomes heat, which damages the follicle’s ability to grow new hair without affecting the surrounding skin. This process is called selective photothermolysis. A burst of cooling spray accompanies each pulse to protect the skin surface and ease discomfort.
Alexandrite laser hair removal (755 nm). High melanin absorption makes this wavelength a strong match for lighter skin tones and finer hair, such as on the face and underarms.
What is an Nd:YAG laser? An Nd:YAG laser emits 1064 nm light, a longer wavelength that reaches deeper into the skin. That makes Nd:YAG laser hair removal well suited to darker skin types and coarser hair.
At your consultation, we choose the wavelength and settings for your skin and hair.

Men are a large part of our laser hair removal clientele. Male hair tends to be denser and coarser, treatment areas are often bigger, and every client wants a different result. We plan around the look you want.
The areas men ask about most

Can laser hair removal help with razor bumps and ingrown hairs?
Yes. Men with coarse or curly hair often develop pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB), the razor bumps that appear when shaved hairs curl back into the skin. Fewer hairs means less to shave and less to grow inward. Candela lists PFB among the conditions the Gentle Pro™ Series treats, and the Nd:YAG wavelength suits the darker skin types where PFB is more common.
A note on maintenance. Male hair growth is influenced by hormones, so dormant follicles can wake up over time. Some men schedule occasional touch-ups after completing their series.

Answers to the questions we hear most about GentleMax Pro Plus® laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal works well for most clients and provides permanent hair reduction. That means a long-term, stable reduction in the number of hairs that regrow after a series of treatments. It does not mean every hair is gone forever.
Follicles the laser disables stay disabled. Hormonal changes can activate follicles that were dormant, which is why some clients return for touch-ups.
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser works best on hairs in their active growth phase, so it takes a series of sessions to reach every follicle. Sessions are usually spaced several weeks apart. Area, hair, skin, and hormones all affect the number, and we will give you an estimate at your consultation.
Most clients feel a quick snap or sting with each pulse, and sensitive areas like the upper lip and bikini line feel it more. The GentleMax Pro Plus® sprays cooling with every pulse, and large spot sizes shorten sessions.
Yes. The Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelength is better suited to darker skin types, and Candela designed the Gentle Pro™ Series for all skin types. We adjust the wavelength, spot size, and pulse duration to your skin. Experience matters most here, so ask any provider how often they treat your skin type.
Lasers target melanin, so hair with little pigment responds less. Results on lighter hair are less predictable, and we will tell you at your consultation whether laser is a good fit.
IPL (intense pulsed light) uses a broad spectrum of light. A laser like the GentleMax Pro Plus® uses specific wavelengths chosen for how they interact with melanin and different skin types.
Diode lasers use a different light source, typically in the near-infrared range. Results depend on the right wavelength for your skin and hair and a trained provider. The GentleMax Pro Plus® gives us two proven wavelengths to choose from.
Yes. Dark, coarse hair holds more melanin and generally responds well. The Nd:YAG wavelength is well suited to coarser hair.
Yes. Common choices are the cheeks, neckline, and full beard area. Beard hair is dense, so expect a full series. We will decide with you whether to remove it completely or define the lines.
Many clients start in fall or winter, when it is easier to keep treated skin out of the sun. Tanned skin raises the risk of side effects, so avoid tanning before and between sessions and wear SPF on treated areas. With the right precautions, we can treat in any season.
